“I never thought I’d make it here,” says Allen Paul Weaver III about his life. “Had my suicide attempt after high school been successful, I wouldn’t have. Now I get to tell others, especially youth, that there is life beyond our struggles. We don’t have to give in to our fears.”
Allen Paul Weaver III has worked with youth, in various capacities, since 1997. He was born in Florida and grew up in New Rochelle, New York. He is a 1996 honors graduate of the historic and nationally known Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida; holding a BA. Degree in Speech/Mass Communications. He is also a 2000 graduate of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, in Rochester, New York, holding a Masters of Divinity degree in theology.
Allen loves to write! In 2006 he published, Transition: Breaking Through the Barriers, which is making an impact in the lives of readers across the country, aiding their journey towards a God-given future. His new book, a teen fiction novel entitled, Speedsuit Powers, releases December 2009. He’s also working on several other book manuscripts for publication.
Currently, Allen works for a non-profit organization in New York City. He is also the Communications/Media Director for the African Initiative Mission Foundation, which does humanitarian work in West Africa. To date, Allen has traveled to seven African countries and produced documentaries on humanitarian work done in West Africa; a trip to Beijing, China; and various other projects.
As a speaker/teacher at retreats and workshops for youth, young adults, men and women, Allen dreams of using all of his gifts and talents to help mentor youth, young men and women towards their destiny.
In addition to being a writer, speaker and teacher, Allen also draws, produces short films, enjoys vertical wind tunnel flying, innovating new ideas with his brother and traveling with his wife.
“We all have a story” – says Allen Paul Weaver III, one that is significant… unique – a story from which others can learn. I want to tell great stories and help others to do the same.
