A 14 year old, quick-witted kid who recently moved from the suburbs of New Jersey to the South Bronx. Even though he’s the only 9th grader at his new school who’s taking physics, he’s also struggling with the death of his father. How will he survive?
Treyshawn Jinkins: THE BULLY
This 15 year old lives in a tough section of the South Bronx and lives to intimidate others. On the surface, he only cares about himself, but underneath his tough exterior is a young man with a ton of issues he doesn’t know how to address and the nagging feeling that he’ll never amount to anything.
Kelly Washington: THE DANCER
This 14 year old girl has a tough and a soft side. Growing up in the South Bronx, with two older brothers means she knows how to fight; but she also loves to dance. She’s not sure how she will change the world… but she knows that dancing is her ticket.
Omar Powers: THE NAVAL OFFICER
He took the death of his father the hardest - and it almost cost him his life. Having enlisted into the Navy as a way to break away from the streets, he lives to make a difference in the life of his younger brother.

Mrs. Miranda Powers: THE MOM
She’s raising her two sons after the death of her husband. Although she worries about her boys, she’s a fighter, and is determined to develop herself while giving her sons what they need to succeed in life. But she’s flustered by the overwhelming responsibility of being a single mother in today’s tough society.
Mr. Malcolm Powers: THE FATHER
He died when Curtis was in 6th grade. Malcolm was a brilliant man who was loved by his wife and sons. As an architect, he designed several major buildings in various cities around the country. He was an avid reader who devoured books on a multiplicity of topics, ranging from philosophy to particle physics to world architecture. However, his greatest love, next to God, was his family.
Kevin and Kelvin Washington: THE MVP BROTHERS
These two athletic brothers are MVPs’ in their respective sports: basketball and football. Both dominate their game and command respect on the court, field, and the streets. They also have mastered their studies, knowing that success comes from a strong body and mind. With brothers like these, no wonder Kelly is so confident.
Jetstream: DE-CLASSIFIED:
